: Oyo APC Rejects False Claims of Anointed Candidate, Advocate Merit Over Manipulation


We believe that the comments and reactions from the public have sent a clear message to those concerned.


The game of politics has officially begun in Oyo State. Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have started mobilizing and showing support for their preferred gubernatorial aspirants. 


However, it is truly disheartening to see some individuals spreading false and unrealistic claims that Oloye Adebayo Adelabu has already been anointed as the party's chosen candidate. Politics in Oyo State has moved beyond such outdated tactics and ideas. This generation of party members and citizens are more informed, enlightened, and ready to reject any form of imposition. Those who are spreading such fake news should exercise caution and refrain from misleading the public.


It is important to state clearly that all the gubernatorial aspirants who have declared interest under the platform of the APC are highly qualified. They are all capable, courageous, versatile, and committed individuals who possess the strength and vision needed to carry the party’s flag successfully. We have no doubt that with the right process, APC will emerge victorious.


Spreading fake rumours or claims that Oloye Adebayo Adelabu has already been anointed as the gubernatorial candidate is not only unfriendly but also harmful. It creates unnecessary tension and division within the party.


We must ensure that every aspirant enjoys a free, fair, and open playing ground. No one should be imposed on the people. Instead of generating distractions, all aspirants should immediately swing into action: showcase their capabilities, highlight their past achievements, and clearly present their visions and missions for Oyo State.


We, as party loyalists, want to see open, healthy competition based on merit, not falsehoods or manipulation.


May the All Progressives Congress continue to grow stronger, and may every loyal member of the party find success and prosperity.

 Former Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Professor Adeolu Akande, has congratulated Senator Teslim Folarin on his elevation to the position of Aare Alasa of Ibadanland and Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle on his appointment as Executive Director (Commercial and Environmental Development) in the South West Development Commission.
